USWNT announces squad for October friendlies against Spain

The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) has announced its squad for two upcoming friendly matches against Spain in October. The Olympic champions will face the world’s top-ranked team on October 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., and again on October 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Notable returns to the squad include veteran forward Mallory Swanson, who is returning following maternity leave, and Ashley Sanchez, who returns to the national team after a two-year absence following a record-tying NWSL season. Washington Spirit players Trinity Rodman and Tara Rudd have also received call-ups.

Coach Emma Hayes noted that the matches serve as a critical test against elite competition as the team prepares for 2027 Women’s World Cup qualifying. The goalkeeper position remains a point of focus, with Claudia Dickey among those competing for the starting role.
