UT Dallas and Colorado Mesa men's soccer tie 1-1 in season opener

The Colorado Mesa University and University of Texas at Dallas men's soccer teams opened their 2026 campaigns with a 1-1 draw at the UTD Soccer Field in Richardson, Texas.

After a scoreless first half characterized by defensive play and several attempts by UT Dallas that were stopped by Colorado Mesa goalkeeper Nathan Beck, Richie Tabares-Ochoa scored for the Mavericks in the 59th minute following a pass from Kamden Kooiman.

The match became increasingly physical, resulting in 33 combined fouls and nine yellow cards. UT Dallas secured the equalizer in the 85th minute when Osi Iyamah scored off a setup by Julio De Los Reyes, following a free kick by Ryder Claborn. The game ended in a stalemate with UT Dallas outshooting Colorado Mesa 10-9.
