UTAD launches new Medicine course in Vila Real

The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) has launched its new Medicine course in Vila Real with an initial cohort of 40 students. The program emphasizes a personalized teaching model, providing one tutor for every student and facilitating direct contact with patients starting in the first year.

The course is supported by 113 professors, 95 of whom are physicians from the local health unit, Unidade Local de Saúde de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (ULSTMAD). Students will utilize advanced technology, such as virtual anatomical tables, to support their studies. The initiative aims to address the shortage of medical professionals in the country's interior regions.
