Utah athletes boost NFL rosters and BYU summer sports activity
There are now 92 players with Utah ties on NFL rosters, up from 82 last season. The University of Utah leads with 36 current players, followed by BYU (23) and Utah State (10). Half of those players attended high school in Utah, and 22 are on AFC West teams, the most of any division, with the Las Vegas Raiders fielding eight.
In college, BYU’s summer schedule is winding down as the Cougars prepare for fall camp on Aug. 4. Highlights include former BYU star AJ Dybantsa’s No. 1 draft selection and summer‑league performance, the retirement of long‑time women’s coach Jen Rockwood, and incoming recruit Bruce Branch III representing the U‑18 national team. Head coach Kalani Sitake’s teams across football, soccer and volleyball are back in full training, keeping BYU sports in the spotlight throughout the summer.
