Utah congressional elections face new district maps

Utah voters will head to the polls on November 3 to elect representatives for the state’s four U.S. House seats. The election follows a court-ordered redistricting process in 2025 that resulted in a newly drawn District 1, which now encompasses much of the Salt Lake Valley and the University of Utah. In this new district, Ben McAdams and Riley Owen are competing for the seat.

Early voting data indicates that approximately 8.3% of Utah’s 1,787,566 active voters had cast and processed ballots as of mid-October. While this turnout is described by Salt Lake County Clerk Lannie Chapman as “really good,” it has not matched the surges seen in other states participating in national contests for congressional control. In rural Rich County, nearly a quarter of registered voters have already cast ballots.
