Utah farmers receive loan relief and new agritourism grants
Utah agricultural producers are receiving multiple forms of financial support following a difficult year marked by drought, wildfires, hailstorms, and rising fuel costs.
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) has announced unprecedented relief measures for producers with active UDAF loans. Starting November 1, 2026, interest rates on all existing UDAF loans will be reduced to 0% for one year. Additionally, borrowers will have the option to defer loan payments for up to 12 months to provide operational flexibility.
In a separate initiative, Airbnb and the American Farmland Trust have launched the ‘Farm to Stay’ grant program. This program provides up to $10,000 to qualifying for-profit farms to encourage agritourism. The goal is to help farmers diversify their income through farm stays, which served as a significant revenue source for hosts in Utah in 2025.
