Utah leaders break ground on Convergence Point innovation hub

Utah officials have broken ground on Convergence Point, a central innovation hub located within The Point, a 600-acre mixed-use development on the site of the former Utah State Prison in Draper. The project is led by the Nucleus Institute, which was formed through the reorganization of the Utah Innovation Lab.

Designed to foster collaboration, the facility will house university researchers, entrepreneurs, industry executives, and government officials. The center aims to connect talent and investment across the state, drawing from Utah’s 16 public colleges and universities. The site will also feature co-development spaces tied to federal and defense technology work associated with Hill Air Force Base.

The project received $50 million from the Utah Legislature in 2022. Convergence Point is expected to open in summer 2029 and will serve as the anchor for the Utah Convergence Corridor, a network intended to link research and industry from Logan to St. George.
