Utah Rep. Trevor Lee resigns amid felony fraud charges

Utah State Representative Trevor Lee has resigned from the legislature following criminal charges filed by the Utah Attorney General’s Office. Lee, 35, faces multiple felony counts, including second-degree felony charges for mortgage fraud and communications fraud, as well as third-degree felony charges for forgery and possession of a forgery writing device.

Prosecutors allege that Lee used falsified employment and income documents to secure financing for a newly built home in Layton. According to charging documents, Lee claimed to be a sales director at Blue Logic earning approximately $190,000 annually, though the company stated the offer letter was inaccurate and that Lee had never accepted the position. Additionally, investigators allege Lee forged a signature on a contract with Enevive to misrepresent his income. During an interview, Lee reportedly admitted to forging a signature to obtain the loan.

In his resignation statement, Lee cited personal circumstances that prevented him from providing the necessary service to his constituents, though he did not address the specific allegations of criminal conduct.
