Utelit Consum launches national petition for disability rights and electoral reform

Rocco Monaco, National President of Utelit Consum APS, has launched a national popular petition titled ‘Scegliere e vivere con dignità’ (Choose and live with dignity). The petition, officially transmitted to the Italian Chamber of Deputies and the Senate on September 8, 2026, aims to collect 500,000 signatures.

The initiative presents six concrete proposals to political forces. Key demands include the restoration of voter preferences for electing members of the Chamber and Senate, and ensuring a minimum monthly pension of 1,000 euros for individuals with disabilities and fragile persons.

Additional healthcare demands include establishing national maximum wait times for medical visits, exams, and surgeries; providing protections for caregivers; implementing integrated home care from 7:00 to 20:00; and enacting a national law to guarantee uniform home assistance rights across all Italian regions. Monaco, motivated by his own recent medical challenges, has requested written responses from institutional interlocutors and formal meetings with parliamentary delegations.
