UTEM granted five-year institutional accreditation
The National Accreditation Commission (CNA) has granted the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM) five years of institutional accreditation, placing it in the upper tier of the Advanced level until October 2031. This decision follows a motion for reconsideration presented by UTEM rector Marisol Durán Santis.
The accreditation recognizes the university's institutional transformation and growth in research, innovation, and technological transfer. Key indicators cited include a significant increase in scientific production, rising from 249 publications in 2021 to 619 in 2025, with over 1,700 total publications during the reported period.
Additionally, the university secured 53 FONDECYT projects as the primary institution between 2020 and 2024 and formalized 25 technological assets during the same timeframe. Academically, UTEM maintains five doctoral programs and 14 master's programs, with 61% of full-time academic positions held by individuals with doctoral degrees.
