UTEP volleyball defeats NMSU in five-set Battle of I-10 thriller

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) volleyball team defeated New Mexico State University (NMSU) in a five-set match during the first Battle of I-10 of the season. The match, held at the newly renovated Memorial Gym in El Paso, saw UTEP secure a victory with a final set score of 15-13 after trailing 2-1 in sets.

NMSU showed strong offensive performance, recording 63 kills and a .257 hitting percentage, which were season highs for the Aggies. Despite NMSU winning the second and third sets, UTEP managed to outlast their rivals to move to a 1-1 record for the season. The two teams are scheduled to meet again on September 10 in Las Cruces.
