Utexo to launch bridged USDT on Bitcoin network

Utexo, a Bitcoin infrastructure company, has announced plans to publicly launch a bridged version of USDT on the Bitcoin network on November 28, 2026. The rollout will initially focus on institutional users, including exchanges, wallet providers, market makers, and OTC desks, through a service called ‘Utexo Mint’.

Professional operators are currently testing minting, confidential transfers, and redemption functions on the Bitcoin Signet test network using the RGB protocol. The bridged USDT is not a new issuance by Tether but operates on a lock-and-mint basis; assets are locked as USDT0 on the Arbitrum network to back the Bitcoin-based tokens.

While institutional access is currently being prioritized to manage large-scale fund movements and privacy concerns, a specific timeline for direct retail user access has not yet been disclosed. Utexo also plans to introduce support for the Lightning Network in early 2027.
