UTHealth Houston and Exobiosphere partner for space-based research

UTHealth Houston has entered into a partnership with Exobiosphere, a space biotechnology company, to advance biomedical research using space-based technologies. The collaboration aims to utilize Exobiosphere’s orbital research capabilities alongside UTHealth Houston’s expertise in antibody discovery, therapeutics, and artificial intelligence.

The initiative focuses on investigating how microgravity environments can accelerate scientific discovery and provide new biological insights to develop therapies for patients on Earth. This partnership will establish a Texas Medical Center Space Medicine Lab at TMC3, serving as a central hub where researchers and engineers can design space-based biomedical experiments and analyze microgravity-generated data.

The project is led by Zhiqiang An, PhD, and is intended to strengthen Houston’s role at the intersection of healthcare and human spaceflight.
