Utility providers launch community outreach for electrical services

Utility companies in Mexico and Colombia have implemented community outreach programs to bring electrical services directly to local residents.

In Kanasín, Yucatán, Mayor Edwin Bojórquez organized a session with the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to address citizen concerns. Over 150 residents reported issues including power outages, tree trimming needs, meter inspections, and requests for new service connections. The initiative aimed to provide immediate assistance and guidance to avoid the need for residents to travel to central offices.

Similarly, Centrales Eléctricas de Nariño conducted the ‘Ruta de la Buena Energía’ in Llorente, Colombia. This program targeted rural areas to facilitate administrative tasks such as complaints, financing requests, new connections, and service legalization. The initiative seeks to reduce the travel costs and logistical barriers faced by inhabitants of remote territories when interacting with public service providers.
