Utku Çakırözer visits detainees at Çorlu Karatepe Prison

Utku Çakırözer, Eskişehir MP and Deputy Chairman of the YENİ Party, visited several detainees at the Çorlu Karatepe Prison. Among those visited were Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, Babala TV Editor-in-Chief Oğuzhan Uğur, Murat Ongun, and Mehmet Pehlivan.

Following the visit, Çakırözer criticized the current detention processes, stating that unlawful detentions have turned into a “preemptive punishment.” He argued that for Turkey to achieve true democratization, these practices must end. He specifically highlighted the health concerns of Sinem Dedetaş, noting she has high cholesterol and blood sugar, as well as physical fractures, suggesting her continued detention is contrary to human rights.

Dedetaş expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by citizens in Eskişehir, noting that messages from the city have provided her with moral support during her time in prison.
