UTN humanoid robot named Neo

The humanoid robot at the UTN Facultad Regional San Francisco has been named Neo. The name was selected through a community contest involving 16 educational institutions and 52 different proposals from nine localities.

The winning entry was submitted by fifth-year students from Colegio Superior San Martín, who noted that the name reflects a “new stage between humans and robots.”

Neo is part of the “Humanoid Robot Training Laboratory” project, a collaborative initiative between the UTN, the Municipality of San Francisco, and the provincial government. This project makes the faculty the first UTN in Argentina to possess such specialized equipment. The laboratory, located within the Electromechanics department, aims to provide annual training for advanced engineering students in robot programming, simulation, and training. The initiative includes a technical mentorship agreement with Robots for Humanity.
