UTPL ranks among top sustainable universities in Ecuador

The Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) has received international recognition in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. The institution positioned itself as the fourth university nationally and the second private university in Ecuador.

Organized by Universitas Indonesia, the ranking evaluates higher education institutions based on six key categories: infrastructure and setting, energy and climate change, waste, water, transport, and education and research. The ranking assesses both campus operations and the integration of sustainability principles into academic activities.

UTPL’s performance reflects an institutional effort to incorporate environmental, social, and economic criteria into its management, professional training, and research. Specific initiatives include the preservation of protected green zones in Loja, energy efficiency through advanced lighting systems, responsible waste management, and water resource optimization.
