Utrera completes roof repairs on San Francisco Chapel
The Utrera City Council has completed repair works on the roof of the San Francisco Chapel, located within the Municipal Cemetery. The project, representing an investment of 79,962 euros, was initiated to address advanced deterioration and the risk of structural collapse.
The renovation involved replacing the original wooden structure and curved tiles with a new metal beam system, sandwich paneling, and high-quality ceramic tiles to maintain the building's traditional appearance. Additional works included installing galvanized steel gutters, performing masonry repairs to consolidate walls, and applying waterproofing solutions to prevent moisture infiltration. The 18th-century chapel is a significant historical site and part of the municipal inventory of archaeological sites.
