UTSA Roadrunners defeat UTRGV 45-16 in season opener

The UTSA Roadrunners secured a 45-16 victory over the UTRGV Vaqueros in their season opener at the Alamodome. The win brings UTSA's all-time record in season openers to 11-5.

Quarterback Owen McCown led the offense, completing 22 of 27 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Key offensive contributors included DJ Allen Jr., who recorded 116 receiving yards, and Will Henderson III, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. A’Marion Peterson also added a 53-yard touchdown run late in the game.

Defensively, Ahamad Chapman contributed a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown, helping establish a significant lead during the first half.
