Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath renewed a cultural‑political offensive in Uttar Pradesh, accusing the Samajwadi Party and Congress of practicing selective secularism and ignoring the Hindu majority’s traditions. Speaking in Barabanki, he claimed previous governments focused on building walls around graveyards while neglecting temples and religious festivals, framing the contest as a clash between Sanatan values and the opposition.

The remarks come as electoral calculations intensify, with the BJP positioning itself as the defender of India’s civilisational heritage. Opposition parties rejected the accusations, arguing that the ruling party is diverting attention from governance and economic issues.
