Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath marks 54th birthday with tree planting on World Environment Day

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath turned 54 on June 5, 2024 and used the occasion to highlight the state’s environmental programme. In Lucknow he planted a sapling at his official residence as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, reiterating Uttar Pradesh’s achievement of increased forest cover, anti‑single‑use‑plastic drives and free‑soil provisions for village ponds. The state aims to plant five crore saplings from Forest Department stocks, adding to a nine‑year drive that has already delivered over 242 crore saplings.

In Varanasi, supporters marked the birthday with a 54‑kg laddu cake at the Varad Anjaneya Hanuman Temple, accompanied by prayers, aarti and distribution of the cake to devotees. Organisers also planted 54 saplings, linking the celebration to World Environment Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted birthday wishes, praising Adityanath’s development and environmental work.
