Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath orders stronger weather alerts and reliable power amid heat wave

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to upgrade the state’s weather warning system to make alerts faster, more accurate and reachable to every resident. He called for extensive use of Interactive Voice Response, village loudspeakers, local FM radio, mobile alerts, SMS and social media, and ordered the installation of additional doppler radars, automatic weather stations and rain‑gauges across the state. The chief minister said, "Arrangements should be ensured, so that weather forecasting and warning systems are not limited only to technical mechanisms but effectively reach the last person."

In a separate briefing, Adityanath instructed the energy department to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the extreme heat. He urged a more accountable, consumer‑centric power distribution system, emphasizing that any negligence in transformer breakdowns or feeder disruptions would not be tolerated. The state’s transmission network, covering over 60,800 km, already operates at 99.30 % availability with losses reduced to 3.2 %. He also highlighted the rollout of smart meters and the need for timely public communication on any outages.
