Uttar Pradesh Renames Bhadohi District as Sant Ravidas Nagar

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Bhadohi district will be renamed Sant Ravidas Nagar, aligning the change with the 650th birth‑anniversary of the saint Guru Ravidas. The declaration was made during the launch of the BJP’s “Samrasta Sankalp” campaign, with the CM stating that the renaming reflects the government’s commitment to honour social reformers and promote communal harmony.

He also pledged to install protective canopies over statues of Ravidas, Valmiki, Dr B. R. Ambedkar and other figures across the state, and cited recent renamings such as Jalandhar airport after Ravidas. The move is positioned as a symbolic step to reinforce the ideals of equality and social justice promoted by the saint.
