Yogi Adityanath inaugurates new Uttar Pradesh disaster‑management headquarters in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath opened the new headquarters of the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (UPSDMA) in Lucknow on 19 July. The building, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 200 crore, houses a 24 × 7 State Emergency Operations Centre, a digital command‑control and coordination centre, a modern auditorium, classrooms, a library and accommodation for staff. During the ceremony the UPSDMA website was launched and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, PAC and fire services were felicitated for their rescue work.

The chief minister stressed that disaster mitigation depends not only on government structures but also on public awareness and timely preparedness. He pointed to past fatalities caused by inadequate early‑warning systems and announced swift measures to strengthen those systems, noting that Uttar Pradesh is the first state to classify human‑wildlife conflict as a disaster and to provide relief for affected communities. The new, state‑of‑the‑art headquarters is intended to enhance coordination and enable faster, more effective responses to both natural and man‑made emergencies.
