Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed residents in a letter, declaring sport as a core part of the state's new identity. He praised the state's male team for winning 20 medals and clinching the title at the 65th National Senior Athletics Championship, a first in UP's history. He also highlighted five UP players who contributed to India's gold medal in the Under‑18 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup in Japan.

The CM cited individual achievers such as cricketer Deepthi Sharma, Paralympic high‑jumper Praveen Kumar, javelin thrower Anu Rani, visually‑impaired runner Simast Sharma and Grandmaster Vatikā Agrwal. He announced a rollout of sports facilities: a field in every gram panchayat, mini‑stadiums in each block, modern stadiums in every district, and the forthcoming Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut. Sports colleges and "excel" centres will be set up in each division, and outstanding athletes will be offered government jobs. He appealed to parents to nurture children’s talent, describing sport as a shield against addiction and a pathway to success.
