Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi and Union Minister Gadkari review road projects

On July 13 in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to review major national highway and road infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh. The discussion involved the National Highways Authority of India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the state government.

Since 2014, roughly 10,204 km of national‑highway projects have been allocated in the state, with about 9,329 km already completed. Between April 2025 and May 2026, 606 km of new projects were approved and 1,010 km of highways were finished. Total spending on these projects is estimated at ₹1.94 lakh crore, including ₹23,445 crore slated for FY 2025‑26.

Key ongoing works include the Mathura‑Bareilly‑Sitarganj four‑lane highway, the Agra‑Aligarh four‑lane stretch, the Agra‑Gwalior‑Jhansi‑Nagpur economic corridor, the Kanpur ring road, the Noida international airport link, a six‑lane connection to Jewar, and the Moradabad‑Kashipur four‑ and six‑lane projects. Additional projects such as the Sonouli‑Gorakhpur four‑lane road, the Prayagraj‑Southern ring road and the Prayagraj‑Jaunpur‑Azamgarh corridor are progressing to strengthen links with the India‑Nepal border, Buddhist tourism circuits and regional trade routes.

The ministers highlighted coordinated actions on land acquisition, forest clearances, utility relocations and the provision of royalty‑free soil for greenfield projects, aiming to accelerate implementation while preserving environmental balance through tree‑replanting measures. Completion of these projects is expected to improve connectivity to the National Capital Region, western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and major industrial‑logistics hubs, as well as facilitate access to religious and cultural sites such as Ayodhya and Janakpur.
