Uttar Pradesh dismisses 26 doctors for absenteeism and negligence

The Uttar Pradesh government has dismissed 26 doctors from service for prolonged unauthorized absences and failure to fulfill their professional responsibilities at government hospitals. The decision follows a review by the Health Department into cases of negligence and absenteeism.

In addition to the dismissals, departmental action has been initiated against nine other doctors for allegedly disobeying senior officials and neglecting medical duties. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak emphasized that the primary responsibility of government-posted doctors is to provide quality and timely treatment to patients, stating that strict action will continue against those who neglect their duties.

The dismissed personnel include medical officers and specialists stationed across various districts, such as Lucknow, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, and Bareilly. Officials have been directed to implement regular monitoring of doctor attendance, as well as outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services, to ensure proper patient care.
