Uttar Pradesh expands cabinet, adds six ministers to pursue 'Developed India' agenda

On May 10, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh announced a cabinet expansion, inducting six new ministers and promoting two existing ones. The reshuffle is presented as a step toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "Developed India" vision and is intended to strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prospects in the 2027 state elections.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the new team will work to transform Uttar Pradesh into a developed state, while Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya highlighted the goal of serving the welfare of the state’s 250 million residents. State BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary described the expansion as balancing caste, regional and organisational considerations. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna expressed confidence that the BJP will win a larger majority in 2027 than it did in 2017, and MP Ravi Kishan predicted a record‑breaking seat tally.

New ministers pledged to focus on education, security, health services, employment and industry to meet the development targets set by the state leadership.
