Uttar Pradesh Government Boosts Disaster Management Funding and Daily Advertising Spend

The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated an additional ₹1,014.11 crore to the Revenue Department in the 2026‑27 supplementary budget. Of this, ₹739 crore is earmarked for the State Disaster Mitigation Fund to enhance preparedness and response to natural calamities. The budget also funds new integrated collectorate complexes in Bahjoi (Sambhal district) and Varanasi, and provides a one‑time ₹85 crore for upgrading residential government buildings across districts and tehsils.

Separately, the Yogi Adityanath administration’s Information and Public Relations Department has been spending over ₹2.32 crore per day on advertising since the BJP’s 2017 election win, surpassing the central government’s average of ₹1.5 crore per day under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Daily ad spend rose from ₹294.86 crore in 2017‑18 to more than ₹1,400 crore in 2022‑23, with the majority directed to news outlets, TV broadcasts and online ads. The government has declined Right‑to‑Information requests about the specific platforms receiving these funds.
