North India heatwave eases as rains forecast for Uttar Pradesh and Delhi

Intense heat has gripped parts of northern India, with temperatures reaching 44.2 °C in Bada, Uttar Pradesh, and yellow heat‑wave alerts issued for nine districts including Lucknow, Lakhimpur Kheri and others. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of severe heat and issued a heat‑wave warning for the capital region as well.

A forecast issued for June 25‑27 shows partial cloud cover and a chance of light rain in several districts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, Noida, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Balrampur and Mau. The department also expects the southwest monsoon to enter the state around June 27, bringing broader rainfall.

In the National Capital Region, the IMD predicts maximum temperatures staying at or below 40 °C through the week, with intermittent thunderstorms and rain on June 26, 27 and 29. No specific heat‑wave warnings have been issued for Delhi‑NCR, and officials advise residents to stay hydrated and monitor the changing weather.
