Uttar Pradesh highway crash kills pilgrim, injures six

On Saturday night around 11:30 pm near Eta in Uttar Pradesh, a high‑speed truck collided with a tractor‑trailer carrying Kawand pilgrims on the Mainpuri‑Aligarh National Highway. The impact killed a 50‑year‑old pilgrim, Satyapal, and injured six others.

The injured, aged 15 to 40, were taken to a government medical college; Satyapal was later referred to Safai hospital where he died. The truck driver fled the scene with the vehicle. Witnesses said the tractor‑trailer held 15‑20 pilgrims. Local residents alleged that street lights on the highway were off, contributing to the accident.
