Uttar Pradesh implements DigiLocker for scholarships and raises Shiksha Mitra pay

The Uttar Pradesh government has implemented several administrative changes for the 2026-27 academic session. To streamline the scholarship process, the state is mandating the use of DigiLocker. This digital initiative requires students to link their DigiLocker accounts during registration to ensure that documents like marksheets and certificates are fetched directly from issuing authorities. This measure aims to reduce manual errors, prevent document tampering, and minimize the use of middlemen.

Additionally, the state has released Rs 460.23 crore to cover honorarium payments for approximately 1.28 lakh Shiksha Mitras working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Following a recent policy change, the monthly honorarium for these educators has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000. The released funds are allocated to cover payments for September and October, intended to provide greater financial support to those working in government schools.
