Uttar Pradesh Kanwar Pilgrimage Offers High-Tech, Onion-Free Meals
During the Shravan‑month Kanwar Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, officials have set up large‑scale food camps that serve vegetarian meals prepared without onion or garlic. In addition to traditional dishes, pilgrims are offered modern items such as pasta, pizza, noodles, momos, spring rolls and burgers.
The camps use high‑tech kitchen equipment, including a 20‑kg dough‑mixing machine and an automatic roti‑making unit that can produce about 900 rotis per hour and 6‑7 000 per day. Continuous supplies of tea, lassi, juices and bottled water are provided, and the sites have been made plastic‑free. Special fasting‑friendly fruit meals are also arranged for those observing fasts.
The arrangements are being monitored by administrative officers under the direction of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who ordered regular inspections to ensure food quality, hygiene and efficient service.
