Uttar Pradesh lightning kills 8 as monsoon arrives in Delhi region
The monsoon entered Delhi‑NCR, bringing a temperature drop of 4‑5 °C and relief from intense heat, but also prompting warnings of heavy rain, landslides and localized flooding. The India Meteorological Department issued orange alerts for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan, and yellow alerts for Bihar and Jharkhand.
In Uttar Pradesh, early monsoon thunderstorms caused eight deaths: four farmers were struck while sowing rice in Sultanpur and Muradabad, two people died in Ballia, one in Varanasi and another in Aligarh when a roof collapsed.
