Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar Accuses Akhilesh Yadav of Extortion

Cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar of Uttar Pradesh’s BJP‑led government used his X account to launch a personal attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. In a series of posts, Rajbhar first claimed to have seen Yadav in a dream and then warned that Yadav was becoming complacent ahead of the state elections.

Rajbhar alleged that SP workers were demanding money from supporters – reportedly ₹5,000 for a photograph with Yadav and ₹8,000‑₹10,000 for a handshake – describing it as a “rate‑at‑the‑gate” system that exploits poor cadres. He urged Yadav to stop the practice, warning that voters would punish both the leader and his party if the extortion continued.

The minister, who holds several rural‑development portfolios, framed the criticism as friendly advice, positioning himself as a supporter of Yadav’s supporters while condemning the alleged financial exploitation within the Samajwadi Party.
