Uttar Pradesh Minister reviews dam and reservoir projects

Uttar Pradesh Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and Principal Secretary Anil Garg reviewed the status of dams, bunds, and reservoirs across the Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, and Prayagraj districts.

During the review, officials were instructed to implement measures to increase dam capacity and recharge groundwater to support drinking water and irrigation needs for farmers. The Minister ordered the immediate formulation and submission of de-silting projects for relevant reservoirs.

In Sonbhadra, the Minister directed that maintenance work be funded through the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in coordination with the District Magistrate. He also called for surveys of lands in submergence areas. Furthermore, officials were instructed to ensure all restoration and safety arrangements comply with the protocols established by the Dam Safety Act, with an emphasis on project quality and timeliness.
