Uttar Pradesh Monsoon Activates, Heavy Rain Alerts Issued for 55 Districts
The Indian Meteorological Department announced that the monsoon has become fully active over Uttar Pradesh, with heavy‑rain alerts covering 55 districts. Authorities warned of intense thunderstorms and strong winds in major cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi and Prayagraj, while districts including Mirzapur, Hamirpur and Lakhipur recorded rainfall of up to 120 mm.
Temperatures are expected to fall by 5‑7 °C, providing relief from the pre‑monsoon heat. The department foresees continued showers and possible thunderstorms across the state from July 7 through July 10, especially in the eastern and western regions.
