Uttar Pradesh monsoon remains active with heavy rain alerts across districts

The monsoon has become fully active over Uttar Pradesh, covering both eastern and western regions. Weather officials have issued rain alerts for the next three days, expecting light to moderate showers in many districts and heavy rain with thunderstorms in several areas. Recorded rainfall includes up to 99.8 mm in Kanpur, 86 mm in Meerut, 85 mm in Badayun and similar totals elsewhere. Temperatures are expected to fall by about 10 °C, providing relief from the recent heat wave. The department advises people to avoid open spaces, trees and electricity poles during the storms.

The rainfall is also seen as beneficial for sowing kharif crops, particularly rice, while possible waterlogging could affect traffic in low‑lying zones.
