Uttar Pradesh opens 2026-27 scholarship applications for students

The Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department has opened registration for the 2026-27 scholarship scheme, targeting students from Class 9 to 12 and those in higher education. The program is designed to support economically weaker sections, specifically students from families with an annual income of 2 lakh rupees or less.

For Class 9 to 12 renewal students, the application window is brief, running from August 11 to August 25, 2026. Fresh applicants for Classes 9 and 11 have a longer period to apply, from August 11 until September 21, 2026.

Under the backward class welfare schemes, the government aims to provide transparent financial assistance directly to students' bank accounts. In the previous 2025-26 session, over 36 lakh students received benefits, with significant funds distributed to both pre-matriculation and post-matriculation categories.
