Uttar Pradesh Police sub-inspector suspended over social media video

A woman sub-inspector of the Uttar Pradesh Police, identified as Anu, has been suspended following the circulation of an ‘objectionable’ video on social media. Anu, who was stationed at the Meerut police lines, maintained active YouTube and Instagram accounts where she shared content related to fitness, gym workouts, and her personal life while identifying herself as a serving officer.

The suspension was triggered after a QR code appeared in one of her recent videos, which reportedly led to scrutiny regarding a request for money. Senior Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey ordered the immediate suspension on Sunday for violations of the department’s social media policy.

Authorities clarified that no footage of the officer in uniform has surfaced. The Cyber Cell is currently verifying the authenticity of the video, and a departmental inquiry has been assigned to Circle Officer Saumya Singh to determine further legal or disciplinary actions.
