Uttar Pradesh suspends five tehsildars for revenue case negligence

The Uttar Pradesh Revenue Council has suspended five tehsildars with immediate effect due to negligence and apathy in handling revenue matters. This disciplinary action follows directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure the timely resolution of pending cases in revenue courts.

The decision came after a thorough review conducted on September 7 of cases filed under Section 34 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006. The review analyzed progress across various tehsils and individual officers.

In addition to the five suspensions, 13 other tehsildars and naib tehsildars have been issued show-cause notices for failing to meet expected progress in disposing of pending litigation. This follows a high-level review on August 29, where the Chief Minister emphasized that strict action would be taken against any official demonstrating negligence in the time-bound settlement of revenue disputes.
