Uttar Pradesh to Build INR 5,000 Crore Regional Medical Hub in Jewar
The Uttar Pradesh government announced a plan to develop a regional medical hub in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, on roughly 200 acres with an estimated investment of INR 5,000 crore.
The proposed UP Cares Jewar Regional Medical Hub will function as an integrated “medicity,” bringing together multi‑specialty hospitals, medical education, research centres, advanced diagnostics, AYUSH facilities, post‑treatment care and rehabilitation services to support medical value tourism. Officials say the hub will improve access for domestic and international patients and generate large‑scale employment for doctors, nurses and allied health workers.
Funding is expected from the World Bank, which has prepared a preliminary project report and will present details to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary S P Goyal. The project follows the Union Budget 2026‑27, which earmarks support for five such hubs across India to promote the country as a global medical‑tourism destination. Jewar’s emerging infrastructure corridor, including a forthcoming international airport and expressways, is highlighted as a strategic advantage.
