Uttar Pradesh to build three new greenfield expressways

The Uttar Pradesh government, through the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), has initiated plans to construct three new greenfield expressways. The projects have an estimated total cost exceeding ₹15,000 crore and will span approximately 565 kilometers.

The proposed network includes the 320-kilometer Vindhya Expressway, which will connect Prayagraj, Bhadohi, and Mirzapur directly to Sonbhadra to support mining and industrial growth. Additionally, a 145-kilometer Meerut-Haridwar Expressway is planned to link Western Uttar Pradesh with Uttarakhand, passing through Amroha and Bijnor to provide faster access to Haridwar.

A third project, the 100-kilometer Vindhya Purvanchal Link Expressway, will serve as a connector between the major networks. To facilitate these developments, the government plans to acquire approximately 8,200 hectares of land across roughly 650 villages. These infrastructure projects are intended to boost logistics, industrial investment, and the state's goal of reaching a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
