Uttar Pradesh to implement GPS tracking for sugarcane transport

The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Development Department is implementing a new digital tracking system to modernize the sugar industry and protect the interests of sugarcane farmers. Under this initiative, all vehicles transporting sugarcane from procurement centers to sugar mill gates will be monitored via GPS.

A central control room will be established to provide 24-hour real-time surveillance of vehicle movement. This system aims to prevent unauthorized stops, unnecessary delays, or tampering during transit.

Sugarcane Commissioner Ministee S stated that the goal is to ensure sugarcane reaches mills within 24 hours of harvesting. By ensuring timely transport, the department aims to maintain the freshness and natural weight of the crop, preventing financial losses for farmers caused by weight reduction due to drying.
