Uttar Pradesh Water Minister Orders 24‑Hour Work to Provide Tap Water to JE‑Affected Villages

Uttar Pradesh water resources minister Swatantra Dev Singh instructed that villages in the state still lacking piped water and identified as affected by Japanese encephalitis (JE) and acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) must be supplied with drinking water on a 24‑hour, three‑shift basis. He warned that any negligence by officials would lead to disciplinary action and ordered rapid resolution of water‑supply complaints, quality oversight of construction work, and immediate repair of roads damaged during pipeline laying. The minister also directed regular village visits to assess the impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission, accelerate "jal arpan" programs in villages where supply has begun, and use the Jal Sarathi app to share progress reports with local representatives. All pending single‑village projects must be completed within two months, with strict enforcement of deadlines.
