Uttar Pradesh women-led dairy firms reach ₹5,700 crore turnover
Women entrepreneurs in rural Uttar Pradesh, organized through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), have significantly impacted the state’s dairy economy. Five companies associated with the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Gramin Ajivika Mission have achieved a combined business turnover of approximately ₹5,716.26 crore since 2019.
Currently, more than 3.88 lakh women are associated with these firms, which manage operations ranging from milk production and collection to processing and marketing. The companies collect roughly 12.5 lakh litres of milk daily. This business model has expanded across 6,500 villages in 31 districts, including areas such as Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur.
Arun Kumar, Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, noted that these women-led companies are connecting participants to the entire value chain, boosting rural incomes and creating new employment opportunities.
