Uttarakhand 104 Health Helpline implements proactive monitoring

Uttarakhand’s 104 Health Helpline has evolved from a standard information call center into a proactive health monitoring system. Operating from the Health Directorate in Dehradun, the service has handled over 1.38 crore health-related calls, serving beneficiaries across all 13 districts of the state.

Unlike traditional emergency numbers, the 104 system utilizes a proactive tracking mechanism. Once a patient registers at a health facility, the helpline initiates follow-up contact to monitor their health status, treatment progress, and any difficulties encountered in accessing government services.

The system places significant emphasis on maternal and infant care. For pregnant women, the helpline provides follow-up from the third month of pregnancy through childbirth. Post-birth, monitoring continues for approximately 18 months to ensure infants receive necessary vaccinations and essential healthcare. The helpline currently supports 27 different health programs, including Ayushman Bharat, tuberculosis monitoring, and mental health services.
