Uttarakhand Chief Minister launches ₹43.50 crore State Sports University

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the Uttarakhand State Sports University at the Mansakhand Sports Complex in Gaulapar, Haldwani. The construction project is estimated to cost ₹43.50 crore.

Coinciding with National Sports Day, the initiative aims to transform Uttarakhand into ‘Khelbhoomi’ by providing specialized sports education and modern training facilities within the state. This development is intended to prevent local athletes from having to travel to other states for advanced training.

During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the university’s first academic session and honored several athletes and coaches. Awards such as the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna and the Dronacharya Award were presented to various medalists. Additionally, the government highlighted scholarship programs like the Mukhyamantri Udayman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, which provides financial support to athletes aged 8 to 14 via Direct Benefit Transfer.
