Uttarakhand: CM Dhami engages with BJP supporters and Gen-Z digital activists

In Uttarakhand, political activity is unfolding through both traditional celebrations and digital activism. Neha Sharma, the state president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his wife, Geeta Dhami. During the event, Sharma highlighted government initiatives aimed at women's empowerment, such as the Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana and schemes supporting self-help groups, noting that over 300,000 women in the state have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

Simultaneously, a new wave of digital dissent has emerged among the state's Gen-Z population. A group of youths has launched a social media campaign via an X (formerly Twitter) account named ‘Piza Doctors’. The account directly tags Chief Minister Dhami and various state ministers to raise questions and demands regarding issues such as unemployment, education, competitive examinations, and migration. This digital approach marks a shift from traditional protests to social media-driven political engagement in the region.
