Uttarakhand CM Dhami honors 149 female students with smartphones

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored 149 meritorious female students by presenting them with smartphones during an event in Dehradun to mark International Day of the Girl Child. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide better access to technology and skill development for students who excelled in their 10th and 12th-grade board examinations.

During the program, Dhami highlighted the state's commitment to women's empowerment, noting that a 30 percent horizontal reservation is provided for women in government jobs. He also referenced the Nanda Gaura Yojana, which provides financial assistance of 11,000 rupees upon a girl's birth and 51,000 rupees after passing the 12th grade, benefiting over four lakh recipients to date.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is working toward providing funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to help students in government schools purchase tablets. He reiterated that ensuring the safety, education, and equal opportunities for girls remains a top priority for the state administration.
